Lucky was given that name for a reason. The spunky Chihuahua puppy was discovered by police officers in the car of his previous human, who’d been arrested for fraud. There was also heroin in the vehicle, which Lucky ate, causing him to overdose.
Vets were able to save Lucky, and the puppy was named an honorary K-9.
[He was] in a comatose state on his little side, barely breathing, heart rate really low, body temperature really low. He was just moments away from stopping breathing,” a vet told Fox 4 of the dog’s condition at the time.
Now Lucky is ready for a forever home and was a part of an adoption raffle at Carrollton Animal Adoption Center.
The animal center expected quite a few people, but only two showed up. One was 5-year-old Lacey Diaz, who instantly fell in love with Lucky; the other was a man. Once he saw Lacey snuggling Lucky, he withdrew from the raffle so that she could win. How adorable is that?
He’s very cute, and he’s fuzzy wuzzy, Lacey said as the peppy dog snuggled her face.
“We feel really good, said John Lepsch, Laceys grandfather. We have two other dogs at home, and I think lucky is gonna fit right into that.”
Clearly, luck is on the Chihuahua’s side… and also on Lacey’s, who got to take her new best friend home.
