This is just one of those stories that is so unbelievably heartbreaking. So this dog named Cookie was brought to the San Bernadino City Shelter by her family on December 30th. The family then proceeded to pick out a new dog. A younger lab retriever. Cookie actually watched as they got this new dog and then walked right out, leaving her there.
Naturally she began crying and whimpering. How could a family betray a dog like this? What, they think an animal is a vehicle and its okay to just go trade it in for something newer?
Poor Cookie, 15-years-old, and having to witness first hand such unbelievable betrayal.
A staff member at the shelter said the following upon witnessing what happened:
Cookie is crying for her family. She watched as the family drove away and left her to die.
Cookies shelterID#A489703. Her Pet Harbor listing reads:I am an unaltered female, red and buff Cocker Spaniel. Shelter staff think I am about 15 years old. I have been at the shelter since Dec 30, 2015.
